In this article the authors talk about a phenomenon in teaching; when you are teaching about a topic and it begins to show itself all the time in everyday life. They talk about how they see a cheap wine advertisement for a wine from Australia and the bottle is a dark bottle with Au on it and the advertisement mentions the periodic table. The authors were surprised that they would mention the periodic table in the advertisement. The point of this is that chemistry is all around us all the time; we don't necessarily have to be looking for it all the time but it is there. I believe that the point of mentioning this is to let us know that chemistry truly is around us all the time and that it is a great idea to tell this to your students. When we can find examples like this it proves to our students that chemistry really is involved in our everyday lives. Also, when we can connect chemistry to our students lives they can use connections to related what they have learned in class to what they are seeing in their lives outside of school.
